A welcome break from the cold winds of Iowa and the backbreaking (or not) schoolwork, a short 4 day trip to Miami is all I needed! I headed out of Chicago with my friend Rachel to visit my sister, and here's what we've been up to for the past couple of days.
We flew out of O'Hare and arrived at 10AM- just in time for brunch! We ate at The Café at Books & Books, which is a pretty cool combination of café and bookshop. We spent the rest of the first day exploring and shopping around :)
To start off our second day, we went to a suburb of Miami called Coral Gables and visited the Biltmore Hotel (aka possibly the most beautiful hotel I've seen in my life).
And Miami wouldn't be Miami without some time in the sun: we spent some time hanging and swimming at the Venetian Pool in Coral Gables.
Coral Gables also had some really cool looking streets with these amazing trees. I'm not sure what kind of trees they are but they were really climber-friendly!
And my favorite part of Miami so far has got to be Wynwood, full of galleries, street art, and (the real reason I loved it) amazing photo-op backgrounds. It was just a cool and colorful place to look around.
We finished off the day with dinner at Oak Tavern, which was so beautiful that I forgot to take pictures of any of the food. But the food was good too!
Now, we're planning our last full day in Miami tomorrow. On the list so far: swimming/chilling on Miami Beach (duh), strolling down Ocean Drive, and eating some seafood at Altamare! You could say we're having a good time.
