Here's a new thing: a list of favorite things that' I've used/liked in the month of January (and eventually, all the other months).
Am I totally copy-cat-ing all those other #bloggers out there? Maybe. But I also thought it was a way for me to actually think about the things I'm doing/using/enjoying. I don't know about you, but I feel like I've gotten out of the habit of enjoying things as I'm doing them. So this is a chance for me to appreciate the things I use.
High Potency Night-a-Mins Cream | Origins
I got a sample of this from Sephora, and I've been using it almost every night. The texture is really nice- not too thick, but not too thin either. And I think it's been making my face nicer? I quite like it.
Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light | Hourglass
Everyone has basically talked about this for years now, and there's a reason- it's freaking awesome. When I wear this on top of whatever makeup I happen to be wearing, people notice, and not in a "your makeup looks nice" way but in a "your face looks nice way". And that's nice.
Relief Cream | Era Organics
My skin has been super dry lately (thanks, winter), so I've been using this on my face, hands, and anywhere else that feels dry. It doesn't have the best smell (I think it smells like almond extract), but it really gets the job done. Plus it's all organic, if you're into that.
Complexion Rescue in Ginger | Bare Minerals
I've been wearing this most days, since it's fairly sheer, but tones down the redness in my skin. I honestly think it's a bit too dark for me because #winter, but I don't actually care enough to buy another color. It's just nice and easy to slap on my face so I don't look scary when I'm out in public.
Good Genes | Sunday Riley
It's really hard to talk about skincare products when my skin isn't really at its best, but you guys, I think this serum is really working. Sure, my face still has a bunch of red scars, but I don't have very many active breakouts and I feel like my face looks clearer. It could be a combination of lots of things, but I think Good Genes is also a part of it. Also, I think the name is super funny.
Reve de Miel Lip Balm | NUXE
If you have dry lips, you need this in your life. During the day, I put on a tiny bit (a little goes a long way!), and at night I just slather it on. I think it really helps with my super dry lips (again- thanks, winter). Also, it smells really good, like sweet honey.
Hamilton | Lin Manuel Miranda
Honestly, there's not much to say about Hamilton, other than it's a revolutionary (pun intended) piece of musical history. If you know me, I've probably already made you listen to it. Favorites: I can't just choose one. Or even just a few. Please listen to "Aaron Burr, Sir" and "My Shot" together, "The Schuyler Sisters", "Wait For It", "Guns and Ships", "Cabinet Battle #1", "The Room Where It Happens", "One Last Time", "It's Quiet Uptown", and "Who Lives Who Dies Who Tells Your Story".
Just listen to the whole thing!
Precise V5 RT | Pilot
Ok, last thing is this pen. I found a random pen while I was at home over winter break, and I fell in love. I used it to write in my new planner, and have since bought a box. It's great to use in my lab notebooks, because it's super dark but doesn't bleed! I love it.
So that's it! Mostly me talking about my face, and then rambling about Hamilton and then being a nerd about pens. If that's how summaries go, then so be it. Let me know if/what you've been enjoying this week/month/winter and I hope your day is swell.
All the best,
